New Kitchen Extension, Garsington, Oxford
Paul’s semi-detached house in Garsington, Oxford had a small kitchen and a lean-to conservatory at the back. What he really wanted was a full, single storey kitchen extension, so he called us in to help.
As part of the planning we carefully matched the brickwork, roof tiles and windows and doors for the new kitchen extension to the rest of the house, so that the entire property ties together nicely.
Once all the plans, specifications and prices were agreed, we gave Paul a clear schedule for the work so that he could plan around the more invasive parts of the job.
The first step was to remove the old lean-to conservatory. As soon as we exposed the walls in the old kitchen we noticed that the internal block-work had not been tied to the the external brick-work. It was an inconvenience, we soon put it right and continued with the build.
With the walls, windows and aluminium bifold doors in place, our electrician installed a new consumer unit and took care of the the intricate wiring and sockets, then we got on with the radiators, plumbing, plastering and painting.
The building project went without any major problems and the new kitchen extension blends perfectly with the original structure.
Paul is very happy with the way the new kitchen extension has turned out, and the extra space and light that his family can now enjoy. Take a look at the video and the photo galley below to see how well it all turned out.
“We spoke to a number of building companies in Oxford, but we were most impressed by New Home Improvement Group’s wide range of abilities and they came highly recommended by friends. They were a pleasure to work with, always keeping us in the loop and making sure we could use the house during the build and that the driveway was clear. They were punctual and always turned up when they said they would. It’s quality work. This new space lets in loads of light and will change our lives”
